Summer 2011 Pick! Harry Potter Series!

Hey Everyone!!
Sooooooo I have another great Summer 2011 Pick for you! What is it you ask? ITS THE HARRY POTTER SERIES!!! WOOOHOOOO!

The Summary:
Harry Potter did not know that there was a magical world. He definitely didn't know he belonged in it or that he is "The Chosen One". So how does a young man manage growing up in a new world he never knew existed, at a school that teaches him things he never thought was possible, while an evil Dark Lord hunts him down to kill him??? With the help of his friends, Ron and Hermione, and a whole host of other characters, Harry sees that there is MUCH more to life than power and personal gain.

The review:
Okay, so I know that a lot of people have been adverse to this series because they say its about witchcraft. In fact, its not. The magical part of it is really only the background that keeps the parts in between the action interesting. If you let your children see magicians or watch Disney movies, then you shouldn't have a problem with this series.
Soooooo, I grew up reading this entire series! and I LOVE IT!! (Can anyone tell I'm starting this blog off with my favorites? LOLZ) J.K. Rowling has done a PHENOMINAL job at writing books that are fun and exciting that take you away to a world you've never even dreamed of! There's action, love, and mystery in this exciting 7-book series. Do I recommend it? YOU BET I DO! I give it 5 bookmarks!

Blasts From The Past! Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte!

Hello Readers,
So my latest Blast From the Past is also a SUMMER 2011 PICK! What book am I talking about? Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte!

The Summary:
Young Governess Jane Eyre is happy to teach her new pupil, a little french girl, and to be making money to suppprt herself. The house she lives in, owned by her employer, is comfortable...enough. But who is it that keeps releasing dreadful cackling laughs and fearsome shrieks during the night? Is it odd, frightening Grace Pool who is constantly taking alcohol from her master's stores? Or is it something else?

The Review
I picked this book because it has much of what I love in a book! It is a love story as well as a mystery! This fast-paced adventure/mystery/love story has something for everyone and I give it 5 Bookmarks! This is definitely the classic to read this summer!

A Note:
It can sometimes be hard to find versions of Jane Eyre that are not abridged. However, Books-A-Million does carry unabridged versions. Ask at the front counter for help. There are also children's versions that leave out details that may be boring to children. I would not, however, recommend these for adults who want the full story. Some of these books are subject to leave out not only details, but entire characters.

Blasts From The Past!! Pearl in the Sand by Tessa Afshar!!

Hey readers!!
This is the very first "Blast from the Past" Book! The Book I will be reviewing is Tessa Afshar's "Pearl in the Sand":

The Summary:
Pearl in the Sand is a christian fiction book based on the life of Rahab.  Rahab is a harlot in the great walled city of Jericho from the age of 15 and has given up all her dreams.  When Jericho is threatened by the Hebrews, who have conquered every city they have battled against all odds, Rahab hides 2 Hebrew spies in her home at the risk of her life. She does not understand them, or their God, but what happens next is more than Rahab could have ever imagined...

The Review:
I fell in LOVE with this book! It was heartwarming, fast-paced, and full of interesting little twists and turns. I must admit, I could not contain my emotions as I read one page after another (and I am not one to allow myself to get very emotional while reading). I couldn't put the book down! My only regret is that I finished it so soon!! I give it 5 Bookmarks and I absolutely recommend it!
